I thought I'd invest in some proper footwear for heavy, legs days in particular. I picked out these babies which seemed suitable but they're out of stock: click.
Any other recommendations?

I either go barefoot for deadlifts or wear something like this for my KB routine.
I also bought some of these;
plain black ones both pairs from TK Max, prolly 20ish quid for the pair. Lasted me ages and they are both fine with their solid sole. The Chucks sole is so thin that my feet get cold in them in winter, so I use the gola.

Those soles look a bit thick for deadlifting, no?

bit of a mess up...

Squatting shoes aka weightlifting shoes have a slight heel..

But deadlifting shoes should be completely flat and thin soles or you should be shoeless.

Both Olympic lifts stand from the deadlift position though. And the weightlifting shoe shown above has that wooden wedge for support.

Maybe, but certainly better than the normal running trainers 95% of gym-goers use. I'm not a big dead-lifter* anyway, maybe every second or third legs/back session. I'm thinking more about squats that I do pretty much every week.

* I find it exhausting and recovery can take many days.

I have seen people slot two 1.25/2.5 weight discs under their feet.
This thread says its bad

But aren't those thick weightlifting shoes effectively the same thing?

I think that's if you lack flexibility, not an issue for me. Thanks.

Are you planning on competing? If not i see shoes as a waste of money personally.
It's almost like buying a bench shirt but just to use occasionally and never competitively.

These are the comfiest shoes i've ever worn and I usually do deads and squats barefoot so these are perfect

If ever I don't mind not looking smart, i'll be wearing these

bit pricey though frown

hehe I have those - they're very good, just a PITA to put on. I'd forgotten about them TBH, wore them all summer but when I got back from Greece put them away and clean went out of my mind. I'll dig 'em out again.
