Once I realised the only way to get anywhere with my training is to know where I started, where I am now and where I want to get to, it was important to keep notes. I used to take a notebook and pencil to the gym. Every month I'd draw up a new plan and record a few measurements and my weight. The plan would be what exercises on which day, the number of sets/reps/weights, etc. It took some work but was part of the deal. All this info was then transferred to spreadsheets so I could analyse the data to see what was going on.
Then came the iPhone and Gym Buddy.
What a piece of kit. I know at a glance that I'm shifting more iron and it's really showing in my progress over the last six months or so. Example:

How useful's that?cool

There're loads of statistics and reports, mostly mildly interesting but not terribly useful like 1RM graphs to help visualise progress. It's main benefit for me is the ease with which I can plan my schedule and make amendments or adjustments if the piece of equipment is in use or broken at the gym. It allows great flexibility while keeping me disciplined IYSWIM?

It's simple but has definitely helped me stay focussed and on track.
Anyone struggling to stay focussed or motivated I think it's worth a look. thumbup
