I have suffered from classic migranes for some 10yrs they have made my life at times very bad,I used to get something similar to a hangover for a few days after and used to really struggle to keep it all together with no hope of a cure just the normal list of triggers see specialist try and destress ect ect.
I read an article regarding aspartame and the cancer implications in an american paper and the banning of particularly pepsi max in the USA I made a concious decision to cut aspartame containing products from all our food and drink and am now 4 weeks into it. I just open one can of "fat" coke a day and thats it,Ive not had a migrane since Ive had a few sparkles and the stomach flip moment when you think one is coming but no onset of migrane Im so pleased and just wanted to share with fellow sufferers.

Would avoiding Coke completely not make sense!

A can a day can't be that great for you irrespective of migraines?

That's very useful. Thankfully don't suffer myself more than once a year, but it's a terrible affliction.

Strange Ive thought about them before and then had one perhaps my brain tells me before?
So I suppose my aspartame theory is out the window.

Check through everything you've eaten. It's amazing what food products(even non diet stuff) they sneak sweeteners into.

My mother suffers from migraines and was told years ago to avoid aspartame by her GP. It is definitely a trigger

I must say that is very intesteing.

My migraines have certainly increased this last two years and as have my asparermine intake. If only I could curb my diet coke habit. eeek.

I think being in the motor trade is a trigger too!

I'm reasonably convinced mine are linked to stress (the busy kind) dehydration and sugar intake. Like, if I have something sugary after a hot day when I've been working outside.. almost definite migraine. I make sure to drink plenty of water and rest a while before considering eating anything sugary.
