My 9 year old daughter has been admitted to hospital this evening frown Yesterday our cat jumped off a fence and got her paw stuck in a hole, my daughter went to try and help her but the cat was obviously quite distressed and lashed out catching all five claws of one paw in my daughters wrist. They were quite deep cuts but we cleaned and dressed them with a bandage, however last night she started coming down with cold like symptoms and then today she had a raised temperature so we decided to take her to A & E.

She has now been admitted for 48hrs and has an IV drip feeding her antibiotics as the infection was starting to track up her arm ! There is another girl on the same ward as her who had a similar thing and has been in since Wednesday, she had an operation today to try and clear out the infection.

My wife is staying with her tonight and we are both hoping that the antibiotics do the trick.

She has been incredibly brave throughout it all, she really doesn't like injections and has had several today as well as having some blood drawn. Her main concern was that our cat was OK !

Fingers crossed she will be back home soon.

Sorry to hear that OP, seems like a bit of a bad time for PH'ers.

Thoughts are with you and I'm sure she'll be just fine. Kids are a hell of a lot stronger then we'd believe!

Thanks chaps, I will show her this thread when she gets home smile She has been to a couple of PistonHeads events with me this year and took loads of pictures at the Goodwood Super Car Sunday service, just like my older daughter she had learned to appreciate nice cars smile

Horrible isn't it... Hope everything's back to normal asap.

She's in the best place. Its a monitoring thing really. Different infecting bacteria do different things so various functions need to be watched.

Blimey. I've just cast a thought to our three little ones sleeping upstairs, and then cast a further thought to my wife's cats turned into slippers (declawed variety). frown

Good luck to your daughter.

This. I have been in hospital as a child, and it can be quite an intimidating place, so to the OP, i hope she is all better soon
