My membership is due to expire. If I let it expire will they contact me a short while after to offer me a better rate to rejoin?

Next year's copy will just be a re-ordering of this year's material... apart from the April and June editions which will cover such novel topics as "How to get a six pack in 3/4/5/6 weeks" and "Burn fat fast with just 3/4/10/15 minutes' training a day".

jester

The only decent stuff I find in the likes of Men's Health is where they talk about new health food discoveries or things like newly researched techniques in training/health/fitness... 10 minutes' reading in Tesco/WHSmiths seems to cover it. I do approve of their repeating of checking for common male illnesses eg prostate cancer, testicular cancer... you know what men are like for avoiding the GP at all possible cost...

If you are talking about a Gym then the contract will almost certainly be a rolling one, do you think they would accidentally let you leave just because you didn't renew, no they will probably want a cancellation letter and agreed period before the end of the contract.

I'm at Total Fitness and it's a rolling contract.

Did you specifically sign up for 12 months?

It isn't rolling. I have my renewal letter with an amount to rejoin. I haven't done it yet, was made redundant two months ago.

Any Total Fitness members out there?

I see I see.

My experience with them when discussing anything about price is that they do not budge, worth a shot though giving them a call though.

Total Fitness isn't a national chain of gyms Hal, only goes down as far as Staffs IIRC.
I'm a member at Bromborough and think that when your year is up the contract is automatically renewed. Might be an opportunity to renegotiate though, try threatening them that you're going elsewhere unless...

...I wondered aboot that reply...biggrin

Just reread my letter, it tells me my membership is up for renewal and I get the ow renewal price. I haven't been that much recently and have got the save pennies mode on. It says the offer expires after 7 days after the renewal date.
I have always paid upfront for 12 months on my membership, that is why I don't have a rolling contract.
Thanks for all responses, even ninjasbiggrin

What are you paying by the way Hal?
Mine's £37 through work which is steep but a sauna every morning means I get money's worth.

My renewal price is £395.
Divide it by 12 and you get £32.91.
It is less than last years I think I recall.

I paid £250 for a full years membership at Total Fitness upfront.

Utterly awful, I'd never go again, the equipment was filthy and badly maintained and it was full of knobheads, when they phoned me to offer me the same price to renew I said no, and I said why, and they just said "Ok, bye then!" and put the phone down.

Ridiculous.

The Warrington one is good, nice track, had a great circuits class on Monday. The Walkden one has kettlebells.

Warrington one is good if cardio is your thing, I find the free-weight section to be a bit lacking.

The Wigan one is excellent for the weights though so that's where I frequent.

I have been to the Wigan one long time ago. What has it got extra for the weights bit?
