6 year old neice has broken her leg, again..
Discussion
My six year old neice (my God daughter), who came out of a full leg cast only seven days ago, has fallen whilst using crutches and broken her leg along the same fracture line.
It's a 3/4 length spiral fracture in her leg (below the knee almost down to the ankle). Originally, she was playing out side and simply put her foot down in an akward position and 'crack'.. she was in a full leg cast for six weeks. This time, back at school, she's fallen whilst using crutches and 'crack'.. same break.
At the time she had the plaster off, she was refusing to put weight on the leg, claiming it hurt too much. 'Give her time', we were thinking, perhaps she's just a little apprehensive about using it again.
I hoping that this is just a simple case of not enough healing time in the first instance and nothing more serious.
My two concerns are that this particular branch of my familiy aren't what would be called 'culinary masters'. Fast food, takeaways and what would be considered junk food is all they really eat. My neice won't eat fresh fruit or veg' (at all) and other than processed cheese, she doesn't really eat much decent dairy or vitamin / protein rich food.. could this have played it's part in a failed healing process?
I'm wondering also, if, God forbid, she has something more serious. She's developing a pigeon chest (sunken scapula?) and has a slight curvature of her spine which is currently being investigated by the doctors.. I only hope these things aren't all linked.
Right, that's off my chest. I'm off down the shops to buy some 'get well soon' goodies for her.

Have to agree, it sounds potentially serious or could be nothing significant at all and just bad luck but needs specialist advice, given the other matters you have raised. Good luck.and/or
