Depends what she's drinking. Maybe the substance she's taking elevates her heart rate.

I had the same trouble when I went through a phase of drinking Vodka & Red Bull.

Can't stand the stuff now , red bull that is still 'force' the odd vodka and something else down instead

definitely. couple pinrs of water/or a large coke/gatorade gets me back to sleep.

When I was younger (17-19 ish)I used to have this. If I went out and drank, even if I only had a few or got totattly smashed I could not get to sleep untill i'd sobered up. Strange, at least I'm not the only one. Now however I don't have this problem.

Does she drink beer? Apparently hops acts as a remedy for sleeplessness.

no problem falling asleep but i tend to wake up after a couple of hours and can't sleep...
