Ive been on the contraceptive pill for over 5 years now, ive decided to have a break to see if i am any different without it.
And OMG i really am!! I can't stop thinking about sex! It's constant, work today was a nightmare. Constantly horny all day, it's driving me up the wall. Ive started taking the pill again now because i cant deal with it, im also feeling a little teary at times for no reason and it's only been 2 weeks.
I really want a break from the pill but if this is how it's gonna be then i dont think i'll be stopping anytime soon.
Any one on here had the same problem, if so please let me know when and if it stops?

Nice to see the boys can't keep away nono

I had to come off the pill last summer due to my Gall bladder, and yes like you, I got certain urges. I'd like to say they they went with time, but I'd be lying hehe

I have been thinking about going back on it, but have never got around to seeing my quack yet.

Have you noticed anything in your 16 months on PH about the, er, gender make up of the members?

Surely one of those fking awful mumsnet type sites would be more help? Or maybe even a chat with your GP - radical, I know, asking someone actually qualified and paid to help...

Or maybe you're just having a good giggle at the thought of all those middle aged geeks, dribbling with lust at your arousal, waiting and hoping for the inevitable picture wink

I can't comment on the problem in question beyond saying if I have an itch I scratch it, but not too much as it can make things sore.

On a related note, be advised.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/he...

"The research found that the Pill can alter the type of male scent that women find most attractive, which may in turn affect the kind of men they choose as partners. It suggests that the popular form of contraception — used by a quarter of British women aged between 16 and 50 — could have implications for fertility and relationship breakdowns"

Also reported in the Scientific American

http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=b...

"Women who start or stop taking the pill, then, may be in for some relationship problems. A study published last year in Psychological Science found that women paired with MHC-similar men are less sexually satisfied and more likely to cheat on their partners than women paired with MHC-dissimilar men. So a woman on the pill, for example, might be more likely to start dating a MHC-similar man, but he could ultimately leave her less sexually satisfied. Then if she goes off the pill during the relationship, the accompanying hormonal changes will draw her even more strongly toward more MHC-dissimilar men."

My partner doesn't find me being off the pill and the sexual urges a problem smile

I've been on it for some 20 odd years (with a couple of breaks), but I came off it for good a couple of months ago. I feel a lot better for it too.

Yes, quite normal for the men to react! rolleyes

I think maybe i should just stay on it for a few more years, besides it a lot safer! Broke up with the fella 3 weeks ago which is a bit of a bummer as he would of been very happy!! hehe

To all the fella's with the comments:
It's an annoying problem but is funny to hear all your comments, keep em coming!

Aren't you meant to have a break from the pill if you've been on it a long time?

Have you thought about the Mirena Coil? Nothing like coils used to be years ago.
