Right, in true maxf style, 1 week before I fly off for a trip I've been looking forward to for a little over 15 months, I have contracted viral conjuctivitus.

I understand this may have cleared up by saturday (eyes were a bit watery from Tuesday last week) but only red from Saturday, but it probably won't have gone.

So, some questions for the knowledgable...

Is there any way to manage it?
Will travelling be ok (flying 10 hours)?
I'm still taking the bacterial conjunctivitus drops just in case - sensible?

Oh, finally - can anybody think of a worse place to be going with a case of pinkeye than 5 days in Vegas, followed by 5 days camping in the desert? Partying followed by dusty goodness. Perfect.

No.

Probably won't do you much harm, but of no probable benefit. You're better off using preservative free artificial tear drops. Travelling will be ok, but you risk infecting everyone else on the plane, if you are coughing and sneezing too. Flying will dry your eyes, so do use the drops frequently.

No coughing or sneezing, fortunately!

Do you think there is a decent chance of it having cleared up by Saturday? That will be 7 days of red eyes, and 11 days of itchy eyes.

Probably. It usually lasts a week or 2. Try not to touch anyone else and please scrupulously wash your hands!!
