I am after a treadmill, I don't know an awful lot about them. My budget is around £700, perhaps a little more. I have been looking on the net at this,

http://www.gymworld.co.uk/treadmills/performance-s... is this a good one?

or this

http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/electric/carryover/...

I would ideally like it to have an automatic incline and heart rate monitor. And be of a decent build quality.

Any point in the right direction would be great.

Thankyou

Technogym make Treadmills that last.

Local L.C. has had the same machines for 10 years. As long as you're not

too heavy any machine should go the distance.(!)It's the springs that give up y'see.

Nothing wrong with using a treadmill now and then.

I know going for a run is cheaper, but I dont have the confidence to let my beer belly out quite yet!

sorry Peter not having a dig, outside running is a little easier on the boredom scale, how about a bike to get you started

Its ok Simon, I didn't think it was a dig! Both myself and my wife have mountain bikes, we go out on them when we can. We also have an exercise bike, but I don't really enjoy it. When I was younger in my early 20's I was incredibly fit, I always enjoyed running both for pleasure and competitively. When I hit 30 I started to get a bit lazy and and began putting on a bit of weight. Due to bad eating habits, beer and I smoked alot too. I have now given up smoking for the last 20 months and am determined to get fit again. But I need to do something I enjoy. So I intend to put the treadmill in our cinema room and run whilst watching a film or listening to music!

Good luck.If you ran well when you were younger you can do it again.

You'll need plenty of inspiring videos to watch whilst running!
