Quick question for any Drs or Pharmacists...

Been taking a course of these since Tuesday afternoon. Before now I can only ever recall having been given Amoxicillin (sp?) when I have had to take antibiotics and have always been under the belief that with those a glass or two (literally) of wine was fine.

Is it the same with these?

I have read the paperwork with them from cover to cover and nowhere does it say anything about not drinking alcohol with them, yet I'd rather be a bit more sure before I have a glass or two tonight.

FWIW I'm on the standard 3 a day and the infection it was proscribed to cure appears to have been kicked well and truly into touch, i.e. I'm still taking them to complete the course as I should, rather than because I still need to IYSWIM!

Thanks.

go for it, but go easy:

A) you're ill
B) lots of things can make you nauseous

the NEVER GO THERE antibiotic for alcohol is Metronidazole aka Flagyl

Thanks for the replies!

Not intending to have a skin full or anything of the sort it's just the g/f is trapped in London for the night and I fancy a spot of Tapas up the road (walking distance!) with a glass, possibly two at a push, of wine to ease it down. The Consultant did say I had to keep my liquid intake up smile

I thought the problem was that it enhances the alcoholic effects. So, you may be under the drink-drive limit but more wobbly than a weeble.

Don't know about that. Didn't end up having a drink on Friday but on Saturday evening/night the g/f and I shared a bottle of pink fizz and I can't say that I noticed becoming even mildly merry, although it was over a good couple of hours and some good food.

Last couple of tables to go tonight!
