No this isn't a thread about the bulging mammories of a female.

I seem to have this strange thing of if I stretch or a big arms out yawn then my chest cracks in a similar way your knuckles/arms.

I can feel it as well as hear it and it's been like that for months. I'm not dead yet so I guess it's not going to do any long lasting damage but I'd like to know what it is.

Any ideas?

Does it feel like it's coming from the point that your ribs meet your sternum?

If so I had the same thing. Went to the GP and said "if I do this [stretch] it makes a cracking noise."

So he said "stop doing that then."

Not much help I admit (GP or me!) but it has stopped. He said it was a "slight dis-association between the cartiledge in the sternum and the ribs" and it wasn't serious.

Yeah it comes from my sternum. It's very pronounced and audible to pretty much anyone in a 5 metre radius.

I'll have a read of that link now.. smile

According to that website an alien isn't going to burst through my chest any time soon. I've just been hitting the weights and it happens sometimes when excess pressure is applied to the chest area (chest press/bench press).

Thanks for the link.

No worries Paul, I had a similar thing, and it may have been gym related also. It just seems to disappear. I wouldn't worry.

All skeletal joints have sinovial fluid...it's a heavy duty lubricant, like EP90. The 'cracking' is the popping of bubbles in this fluid and it does no harm at all
