Miracle cure for face swelling? i have 36 hours!
Discussion
Hello all, I had my wisdom tooth pulled yesterday afternoon and after loading up on nurofen plus the pain is now bareable, However, i have a more pressing issue. Tomorrow evening around 7pm i am supposed to participate in an almighty drinking session to celebrate a mates birthday. the problem? the side of my face is so swollen i look like the Elephant man! Going to work on the tube this morning wasn't much fun as i got some very odd looks as i tried to hide my face behind my book, needless to say i'm not looking forward to the journey home with more busy trains!
I have 2 ice packs with me which i plan to alternate but any tips? anything else i can take? should it be less swollen by tomorrow evening?
Any tips or advice?

I think the swelling will be the least of your worries to be honest.
When I had a tooth out, it was no drinking for a week if I remember rightly. As the alcohol thins the blood and reduces the chances of it clotting quite significantly. Leaving the possibility of having a dry gap with I recall being told is quite painful.
Although if you've been stitched I don't know if this still counts.

Erm, yeah... don't drink!
That. You'll prevent the blood clot from setting, end up with a dry socket and then you'll have a whole lot more than swelling to worry about.
Except you'll ignore that.. so.. keep an ice pack on it on-and-off throughout the day. Take some NSAIDs ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-steroidal_anti-in...) and prepare to go back to the dentist in a few days with the inside of your mouth feeling like its being ripped off by a very angry (and smelly) bear.
