Since yesterday morning, I've had pain in the right-hand side of my head and neck area. It's a constant ache which feels like a combination of glands, a headache, earache and sprain. It hurts to turn my head and I have no other ailments (so I don't think it's anything like a cold for example). I am wondering whether I could have slept awkwardly, but I can't understand why that would be giving me earache and a constant headache?
The pain hasn't abated since mid-morning yesterday.

I'm loathe to waste a doctor's time with this but it's affecting me as I'm in constant pain. Any ideas? Just stock up on ibuprofen and paracetamol and ride it out?

Ear infection causing torticollis? I'd go see the GP.

Cheers,

It seems to be alarmingly easy to lose hearing in an ear due to an untreated infection so you won't be wasting anyone's time. Even if you are I don't see why you should worry about it. You are in pain so go to the doctor. It's what they are for.

Is it a throbbing pain? Apparently, that's a sign of infection.

Get to a doctor asap this could be a major infection - as you must know most of your ent is connected.
Any infection can spread to any of these areas from any of the others. To have muscular pain as well indicates either a microbiological infection or a virus - if you have any aversion to bright lights or a a small pinprick rash on your skin get to hospital immediately you could have meningitis!

Morning chaps. Thanks for the replies, I'm pleased to report that I'm not dead yet. hehe

Still in pain; after popping pills yesterday, I knew the measure would come this morning after they wore off overnight. It's not a throbbing pain, I have no rash or light-aversion. Neck's very sore and stiff, it really hurts to turn my head left (weirdly looking right is OK). The whole area is somewhat tender but the headache is gone and the earache has subsided. I think I must've just slept awkwardly and cricked all the muscles. I'm about to load up on ibuprofen and paracetemol and will see how I'm doing in 24 hours' time. smile

Pain from your upper cervical spine can give headaches and earache.

The chances are it's muscular so keep taking the pills, get some heat on it (to relax the spasm) and keep it movingthumbup
