Uh, what's wrong with my eye?
Discussion
My eye started hurting earlier this evening and now it looks like this:
Not too healthy looking The blue circled bit is apparently a raised lump with the red bit in the middle.
At the moment it feels a bit itchy and like someone's poked me in the eye, but that hasn't happened. I've had burst blood vessels on the surface of my eye before but they've not hurt like this does.
I'll go to the docs in the morning if it's no better, but I thought one of the resident PH medics might have an idea.

Yea, Jesus, Snowy,
where'd that all-sensible stuff come from?
Proper random...
anyway, failing the ol' getting a crab in the eye from a male stripper, it could be either a foreign object or something.
I'm not too sire a&e will do a lot apart from giving you some chloramphenicol, and booking you in with an eye specialist, but it's worth a shot.
It certainly won't be back to normal in the morning, that's for sure.

It does look very aggravated.
How much does it hurt?
Do you wear contacts?
Are you absolutely sure you haven't rubbed it?
If it doesn't hurt, and you do wear contacts or you have rubbed it, it might just have been a bit of grit.
But I'd still seriously consider a late GP, or A&E - at 10pm on a Tuesday they shouldn't be overrun.

This happened to me long ago, but more bloody and it enveloped the whole of the white bit.
I was on a train, en route to picking up a new car. Probably punishment for being on a train...
Doc said it's common and it went away on its own.
Had some scary name, but can't remember it...
Of course, yours might be something entirely different.
Which isn't much use, is it?

Thanks all. Been nagged by the missus - heading for A&E now
Go to a hospital with an eye unit, A&E will see you but likely to be a doctor with little training in eyes. It looks like a nodular episcleritis, which is not that difficult to treat, but should be checked properly by an eye doctor, rather than an A&E doctor or GP.TheEnd said:

Well i would have said he should smash its back doors in and then nuke it from orbit, but that would have been predictable. Also, as its his eyes, i didnt think it wise to ask for advice on here, not when it comes to your vision. Right, thats that out of the way, now back to thinking about boobieswhere'd that all-sensible stuff come from?

Well thanks to your replies he succumbed to my nagging and we are in A&E where there is a handy eye doc just attending another emergency. Cue lots of drops and orange dye. Not quite sure what the doc said it was but we will know in about 10 mins apparently! Due to the drops he can't drive so good thing we came tonight. Thanks again for the help chaps
