So I had a chest infection around 7/8 weeks ago and it lasted about a month. I havent been able to smell anything since before this.

I also stopped smoking about 2 weeks ago but still cannot smell anything at all and my taste is not as strong.

Ive been to the doctor twice and they have just put me on 2 different types of antibiotics and a steroid nasal spray which has had no effect.

Has anyone got any advice on how to get it back or if I will get it back???

Cheers,

Lawler

I've certainly lost mine, I can only very rarely smell anything and it's been that way for years now. Never bothered going to the doctor about it though!

It can have its advantages.

I'd ask my GP for a referral to a Neurologist or at the very least an ENT Consultant. I've seen this is clients generally after a head injury and it seems to be the consensus from the experts I use that symptoms can improve up to 6 months. After that, permanent.

So you can't smell anything at all? Just nothingness? You're lucky!

As of yesterday everything I smell smells of chemicals; deoderant, aftershave, food, drinks, me, everything has the same awful chemical smell!

Still struggling OP?

Have you tried sniffing hard with your nose in a jar of coffee?

NB a jar not a cup. The latter can result in a burnt nose I've heard, which would surely prove only to compound your woes.
