So, trying to lose some weight, not got a target or anything, just want to lose the belly.

Trying to do 3x 10 mile bike rides during the week to get my sweat on, cutting down beer intake a fair bit.

Whats the deal with carbs? I'm going for less calories in and burn more. Do I need to stop having toast for breakfast and pasta for dinner (I do eat other things)?

If you're eating white bread & pasta replace them with wholemeal bread & pasta. You'll need to eat less of them since they will fill you up with smaller amounts, they taste better and are far more healthy from a nutritional perspective. You need carbs, so don't cut them out.

Eat your carbs for breakfast (brown bread with peanut butter or something similar) and then try and cut them out for the rest of the day if you're looking for fast fat loss! I don't eat any carbs after breakfast on weekdays, and certainly never after lunch. Works well.

Makes no difference what time you eat whatever,as calories are the same at any time of day.

Same with carbs...the old "eat a big breakfast" is myth.

Just as "eat carbs before exercise".If your diet's good glycogen should have been

replaced the night before, along with protein.

One can of beer a day I'm afraid and no bingeing at the w/end as this will ruin your weeks hard grind!

Need to do more cardio.

not really a big drinker myself but i think (when i was losing weight) it was important to organise a treat for yourself. for me this involved being dead set in my diet during the week but allow myself a fry-up/curry/take away etc on the weekend. organising in this way keeps you sane and stops any bingeing

If you're in no great rush, and you're not putting on weight now, then increased exercise with a very small diet change could well be enough. Say you expend an extra 500 cals a week exercising, and cut down from 2 sugars to one in your coffee (assuming 4 per day) as an example. That will give you a 43,500 calorie deficit over a year which is equivalent to a 12lb weight loss.

Yep,no problems with that.

And you can err towards a more healthy curry nowadays as well.
