I was changing all the cooling pipework, cam belt and vernier pulley and doing valve clearances etc. (lots of leaning over) on the kit car last friday, was getting sweaty so took my top off thinking that it might also get rid of my ridiculous rowing all-in-one tan lines... I've come away with a pretty sunburnt back.

I've been using aftersun a couple of times a day and it has been uncomfortable but not to bad; until yesterday when it started peeling. Now it is fine when I'm sitting slightly fowards (eg. now sittign at the computer) and when its got even pressure on it (in the car, in bed etc.), but painful if the skin gets stretched/compressed/pulled etc. (I can man up and live with that), but putting after sun on is intensely painful for 15-20minutes afterwards. Any ideas or thoughts on what best to do (besides not be so stupid next time...)?

Thanks
Hugh

I've just recovered from quite bad sun burn, blistered shoulders and stupidly red arms/back, nothing you can really do about it bar man up, i didn't use aftersun as i can't bend enough to get it on my back, took week or so for it to start peeling then another 2 weeks to stop being very painful.

moisturiser, lots & lots of moisturiser (unperfumed for example e45 lotion or cream), especially one with added vitamin E if possible, to help the skin become more pliable & make sure you are drinking lots of water so its not unnecessarily stretched due to dehydration

& man up wink

Thanks for the replies. I've been drinking loads of water, but will give the moisturiser another go then.

Cucumber slices from fridge can give quick relief for sunburn.
