Anyone know of reasons a wound won't heal?
Discussion
To cut a long story short Ive had a number of operations on my ankle as a result of an initial achilles tendon snap.
Of the carnage that is now my ankle, there is a small bit that doggedly refuses to heal and gets gradually larger over time.
Initially the consultants best guess was that there was a piece of necrotic tendon floating about that the body was trying to eject. He operated and cut out the bit that wouldn't heal and re-stitched the whole lot, but yet again it is opening up in the same spot.
THis has been going on for about 9 months now.
ANyone have any experience of this type of thing?

I heard a discussion on the radio the other day where a caller spoke about someone who had an operation on their ear lobes. It appeared to heal, but kept breaking out into sores.
The doctor told him that it was his glasses that were irritating the scar tissue (even though they did not seem to be irritating him) and causing the sores to appear. Once he switched to contact lenses the sores did not come back.
I'm not sure how this may help you, but I've typed it now.

Fine. NOt the best, but it won't be that. Everything else heals. It is just one very specific area that refuses to. For example- I have a 12 inch scar down my arm from the same operation and that healed perfectly within a couple of weeks.Edited by blindswelledrat on Tuesday 6th July 10:14

I had a wound that wouldn't heal (suspected Spider bite) - and turned out to be Staph infection - took ages to clear up and then heal
Funnily enough that was the infection that caused all the complications in the first place but is not the reason for its continued refusal to heal.blindswelledrat said:
