That has been the pattern for the last 2 days.

I booked Tuesday and yesterday off work so I could go and collect the car from Blackpool on Tuesday and do something fun yesterday.

However during warm up playing Badminton on Monday night I pulled a muscle in my lower back. Which hurt a lot.

I went to bed Monday night hoping the pain would be gone when I woke. It hadn't, I rolled out of bed on to my knees then proceeded to take 100 minutes getting to my feet, a further 15 mins putting some tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt on, then another 10 mins getting down stairs to slump on the couch in severe pain.

So to cap things off the pollen count has been high due to the hot weather and my hay-fever has erupted, causing me to sneeze lots. The short sharp jerks of my sneezing action has been pulling the muscles in my back and making them worse. Great rolleyes

I called the NHS Helpline, spoke to a nurse and she mentioned that it may be the sciatic nerve, due to the pain now spreading across my back and down my legs. Also now, across my crotch and through my testicles, which is nice. It feels like someone is constantly squeezing them, great [/jazz club]

So, has anyone else had similar problems? how do I stop the pain? it's really fking hurting now, especially as I'm back at work and sitting upright on a swivel chair rather than a nice soft leather sofa.

Good times, good times.

Get yourself to an Osteopath. I had a similar pain earlier this year when I dislocated a rib putting stuff in the car at the garden centre. Couldn't even breath properly, but the osteopath put the rib back in and after a couple of weeks I was OK.

The very same thing here- trapped sciatic nerve and chronic hayfever.
Unpleasant.
I can't take normal painkillers as I'm allergic.
Last week has been murder, I have to try to hold one leg up in the air when I'm about to sneeze- I look a little like a dancing spastic thunderbird.

Oh aye, sneezing with 3 cracked ribs is not pleasant at all. Heaven forbid if someone makes you laugh!

OP - have you spoken to a sports physio? If it is muscular, they may be able to help.

Youtube clip for proof please....

OP... get some co-codamol and then just sit there in bliss, It worked great when I got hit with a hockey ball in the back. One of those and I didnt really feel the pain anymore, OMG they were so good...

as someone has pointed out if it is indeed a muscular problem then go and see someone and get some ice on it which can help reduce inflammation which could be irritating nerve roots. sounds like both sciatic and pudendal nerves might be a little irritated. as with just about all back problems, bed rest is just about the worst thing you can do. the sooner you see someone the better, end of.

hope you get better ASAP and let us know what the problem was. impossible to diagnose online but hopefully just a simple muscular problem mate.

Tramadol FTW. Honestly, after this stuff, I can see why opiates would appeal to someone who's in a world of st.

I'm bracing myself against my seat and wedging my chest against the desk. I'm also walking like I've freshly shat myself as I can't take full strides.

Not spoke to sports physio, will find one and do that this afternoon.

I'm taking Ibruprofen, will get some co-codamol. Are they available over the counter?

You need to man-up about it! I suggest some heavy deadlifts followed by plenty of bent over rows with about 80kgs: that should alter the pain significantly yes

ETA: and no namby pamby warming up stuff, that will only detract from the effect.

From a pharmacist, yes. I think you're allowed up to 8mg Codeine without prescription.

yes

The key is to put it all in your groin and your back. Take your legs totally out of the equation. Lift with your lower back in a jerking, twisting motion

I wouldnt advise driving on it as you will be a space cadet and anything other than sitting there staring into space will be a distant memory of caring... so driving could end up like bumper cars, so stay clear...

Nurofen Advance from the pharmacist has codeine in it. Buy some sennacot to go with it though...

I scored a pack of 30/500 Cocodamol off my dad, when I damaged my shoulder. They were reet good....cloud9

But when they ran out I got some more off the mum in law, and after being severely disappointed at the lack of buzz, several days in a row, I discovered they are only a feeble 6/500 tablet. frown

Am I an addict?
