Losing fat, but not weight!!

I’ve bought some new funky scales that give your body fat, muscle mass, water etc.

I’m 11st 3 - about 5'9" with a BMI of 23 but it’s telling me I have a body fat of 37% eek

How can I reduce this without losing weight?

Hold the equivalent of the displaced weight in scrap metal each time you weigh yourself wink

On a serious note, as above - add muscle bulk.

muscle takes a long time to add compared to fat loss.

But muscle weighs far more than fat.

OP, if you want to lose fat then you want to do cardio - running, swimming, cycling etc to burn up the calories.

Then to add bulk you want to be hitting the weights. However, you may also find that you start eating more as you train but still lose fat and maintain weight.

Rather than focus on the scales, why not focus on the shape of of your body and how fat you look/feel.

This is it.

I look and feel the best i ever have.

I was 13s 4 in October of last year....

I feel i need to lower the % fat, but don't want to lose anymore weight.

so i guess i'll hit the weights and do a little cardio...

I agree with this. Unless you're fighting and need to stay in a particular weight category.

Those scales must be out.

I'm 12st and 20% body fat (well, I was around a month ago) having gone from 13.5st and 30% body fat.

I doubt it's possible to be bordering on 11st, the same height as me and 37% body fat, any chance of a photo of you? you can etch out your ugly mug if you want.

I've got about 35lbs of fat on me at 20% at 37% you've got about 4 stone! (56lbs) doesn't seem right at all?

Get rid of the scales, eat clean, do cardio and heavy weights.

I am the same height as you but have been training for years so quite a bit heavier, those scales would have a fit if I got on, they are bks.

tell me how muscle weights more than fat....it may be denser but not heavier...Dohhh!.

maybe he should grow some hair to add weight. I have a feeling his scales are out...no way 37%BF..I ma 25%BF and I'm a large lad.

In terms that if you had a 12" bicep of fat and then you did lots of curls, and your arm was 12" but of muscle, your weight would increase. I went from about 10 stone to 12 and a bit stone but my stomach got flatter.....

Of course it's safe to say that if you have 1 pound of fat and 1 pound of muscle that they each weight 1 pound, but I assume that you know what I meant.

Say you set it to male, enter your height and it weighs you. How can it calc your body fat? Surely theres pinch tests and density tests needed for such a thing?
