Does anyone how long it will take to recover? I suffered from large blood loss and subsequent hypovolemic shock at the start of the week and still feel dizzy if I sit up or walk for too long.

It's only been in the last day that I've felt that I have become more myself mentally but am still 'fuzzy', which has been very distressing as bit by bit I've started to realise what actually happened.

It depends on how much you lost and what treatment you received. Different people also have different thresholds. I've known women fainting with a hb of 10th and one with a hb of 6 walking round quite happily!

I clocked 3.8 once. That was interesting. Could walk about 200 metres and felt like I'd run the marathon. You know "the wall"... biggrin If I stood up too quickly, I'd black out. I could hear my heart pounding in my ears all the time. Decided visiting the local hospital was a good idea.

They didn't test my Hb levels when I was discharged. I had to go to the doctor's who then sent me back to the hospital for blood tests.

When I was discharged, they gave me information on what caused the blood loss but nothing on recovering from the blood loss other than telling me to take it easy. I'd just like to know what to expect in terms of recovery as I'm finding it hard not being able to do much.

Feel free to msg me the extent and cause bleeding if you don't want to do it publicly. Seems very odd they discharged you without a full blood count.

That's a bit like saying I had a car crash last week how long will it take to fix.
MUCH more info required.

Below 2.0g/dl is fairly life threatening.
Lowest I've seen survive is 1.8 - was difficult to see where the the patient ended and the sheets began.
