Yo,

Often do tricep pulldown on my chest/tri days with the rope. In the gym, people always "spread" their arms at the bottom so one is either side of each hip. I tend to dothis aswell but I realised only performed it like this because I was copying other people. The other day I did the pulldown but kept my hands together the whole way through the movement. I definitely felt more of a stretch and burn in my tris.

So my question - which is the "correct" way? Which is better for isolating triceps?

Thanks,

HH

Keep your elbows in at your sides. Your body should be completely still bar your lower arms.

Just another variation to hit another head that your tri,s aren't used to - remember to squeeze at the bottom for a second or two

The whole point of using the rope is that you can separate your hands at the bottom of the movement.Don't suppose it matters if you don't though, even if it's nearly the same as an overhead extension.

try this:

seperate at the bottom as you have seem others do, this is the most common method but when you cant do anymore by seperating at the bottom then do a few more reps by not seperating them. you should be able to squeeze out another 3-5 reps by doing this, and feel the burn wink

If my memory serves, moving your hand out at the end works the outer head of the tri-cep. Just about working the muscle in different ways to get a better shape.
