Head injury, should I go to A&E?
Discussion
I hit my head hard on a sharp corner on Wednesday. Didn't black out, but it did knock me to the floor. I cut my head, but it was a fairly small cut and the bleeding stopped after about 10 mins. Although it hurt a lot, I didn't feel the need to go to hospital. I just sat down for the rest of the evening with an ice pack on my head.
2 days on and I still feel very sore, not just at the point of impact, but right down the middle of my head. I haven't been sick, but I do still feel a little dizzy every now and again. I'm guessing this is just concussion, but is it something I should get checked out at A&E, or should I just expect it to go after another day or two?

Great thinking.
Real Doctors will always tell you that it's best to get medical information from people you don't know on an online car forum.

I know, I know, but there's nothing worse than sitting in A&E for 4 hours to be told there's nothing wrong. I hate the thought of wasting doctors time too.

You should have gone this morning before the chavs and drunks have finished watching Jeremy Kyle.

Fill out this (I think it's this one!) and see if it suggests going to hospital, or call the free phone number and speak to a nurse.
Odds are they'll advise you to head for a check up, I'd have thought...

I had a car accident in Libya, head banged pretty hard, 3 months later, still get headaches and blurred vision but will be ok, just take time to go down.
I won't go to see a doctor for a few reasons, had enough of hospitals when I was younger (Crohns from 9 years old) and a lot (not all) of doctors are tossers with their holier-than-thou attitude. Will now only go if I really need it.

Honest to god, this is absolute proof that patients are idiots !
So I went. Got to watch a movie on my iPad while in the waiting room too!
As I expected, I have concussion. Motor functions and reflexes are ok, so no apparent signs of brain haemorrhage etc! I guess the dizziness is to be expected after my grey jelly took a good whack.
At least now I have doctors orders to put my feet up and rest for a couple more days. Shame it's Friday already!
