Got a wierd issue - wondered if anyone on here might have the same.

About 3 weeks ago, I was walking in my house toward the kitchen, when I got a fairly nasty dull ache in the chest around where the heart is. It happened as I was straightening myself up from a stooped posture kind of thing, as I streched upwards there was a loud cracking noise (think when you stretch a leg or arm and it makes that cracking noise), and the pain subsided but was still there.

I went down the doctors immidiately as I have never had chest pain like this before. They did an ECG there, and all this came back as within acceptable paramaters, including a blood test.

The doctor said it was a pulled muscle, however the repeated pain and cracking whenever I straighten up has not gone away (not expecting any muscle pain to go away in a week, however the bone cracking thing is worrying!)

I am going to go back if this does not subside by the end of this week, has anyone had anything like this before? It almost feels like something is "catching" but I don't know what confused

I have not done any heavy lifting, contact sports or anything else recently. I have also ruled out chest aids.

Cheers biggrin

hehe

How about sternum aids?

It could be the cartilage in that area? Costochondritisaids?

That actually sounds like it to be honest.

I was advised to take anti inflammatorys anyway so will continue doing so. Doesn't sound like it will cause any long lasting problems.

I've had this, feels tight and a bit of an ache until it pops, usually when you straighten up or lift arms?

I just did a little gentle stretching every morning and night, and it went away after a while, and hasn't come back..

Hope you have more luck than me; I've given up trying to find the cause of my repeated chest pains!
