Has anyone here suffered a calcanius(heel) fracture? What long term mobility issues have you had since the fracture? Would you feel confident doing a bleep test for example where the foot turns sharply whilst running/turning?
Cheers

impossible to say without mechanism of injury, and classification of your Calcaneus fracture (Tongue type, extra-articular, Sander's class.)

ask these questions at your Fracture Clinic appointment.

sorry

Slid down the road at 40mph and clobbered a concrete post.

Will ask the doc on his rounds. To be honest they aren't forthcoming with the info. Had surgery yesterday guess they will have a better idea now.

As the Doc says it depends entirely on the break and repair so ask the people who have seen you. FWIW though I broke my calcaneus and a couple of other bones about 18 years ago and while it ached for a couple of years on and off I wouldn't know about it now.

Cheeky, normally always high impact.

When you're sat on your arse I suspect 40mph is quite high enoughhehe

Just glad I wasn't 180 degrees out. Sanders 2A is the classification.

Well on the road to recovery, the docs have said I can put weight on which I've been doing the last couple of days. How much do I push it? Last week I started to try and walk normally with a trainer on crutches but started getting pains in the heal and up the back of the calf, so stopped pretty sharpish.

Had a couple of days rest but apprehensive to start again or how hard I should push. No pain no gain? or slowly slowly catchy monkey? Physio next week.

Cant be of any help but hope it gets better soon, sounds like a right akward injury.

This, until the physio's looked at it. It sounds like your calf has tighten with inactivity so some nice steady stretches are probably in order.
