Hi,

Can anybody point me in the right direction of any good forums for reading up and devising a plan to for myself. I've had a browse, but theres so much conflicting information out there I don't have a clue of where to start.

I'm early twenties, 60kg and 5'5 tall. I am naturally skinny and have a small and weedy build, but also a porky beer belly that I can't shift. I work long hours at a desk so I'm sitting down most of the day. I used to be quite an active teen but haven't done any excercise for the last 5 or so years and get out of breath walking up stairs etc.

I own free weights, a cycle machine and have just inherited a york multi gym like the one in this ebay link, but with the additional sit up bench. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

What I would like is to gain a bit of muscular bulk so I look more like an adult, than the childlike body I have now and also get fitter at the same time.

Thanxs

You don't eat anywhere near enough. Fix that and pick some compound bodyweight exercises and you will grow. Guaranteed.

I like the tips on using your own body weight to gain muscle mass. Very interesting to try.

If you want to lose your gut, you should pick up running.

The hardest thing about working out at home is finding the motivation to do it...

Once the novelty wears off, you'll be left with a lot of expensive ornaments clogging the garage/spare room.

Although I really want a power rack at home.

If you want to bulk up, then IMHO you need a training partner, someone who can spot for you.

Go to a gym with free weights. Eat protein. Your belly will go with CV work - a bit of running or swimming..

You really do need to pay attention to your diet if you want to gain muscle mass.

I trained regularly for ages without really gaining weight, as soon as i spoke to blokes down the gym and realised how much and often i should have been eating, i put on over half a stone in a few months.

Also rest days are important, a 1 1/2 hour workout and then several pints down the pub was never really going to work!!!
