Brief history, always been 12 and a half stone outside 43 work reasonably fit, then last march was knocked off my motorbike, broken femur and hip, haled up the rod snapped in femur removed and replaced now finally all healed up though one leg now shorter than other so cant run.
I now weigh 14 stone (sitting on my arse last year for 9 months)mainly round the middle and its now a very very tight fit in my leathers but i am still a 34in waist, how do i shift it exercise wise without going to the gym(never been to one)or do i just buy some new leathers?

Swimming? Boring but effective.
Cycling? Could be issues with leg length discrepancy.

Exercise bicycle? Could that work with your differing leg lengths? Or swimming regularly, maybe?

The general consensus seems to be that it's easier to not eat as much than it is to burn it off. Kate Moss says, "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." but that might be OTT.

There are 40000000000000 threads on diets on this forum. Eat healthily but less of it is the summary.

A few quick sums and assuming that the rod in your leg dosen't weigh 15kg.. you've not done too badly for 9 months of inactivity. It's only about the equivalent (calories) of an extra Mars bar extra per day, or the loss of 30 minutes jogging per day. If you are back doing pretty much what you were doing before the accident (physically) then you can probably expect to be back down to 12 stone in the time it took you to put on the other 2 (assuming your diet hasn't changed in the last 9 months?).
As you can still squeeze into your leathers (and really want to get back on your bike..) I wouldn't go mad with the excersise, maybe a short but brisk walk each evening?

I had a busted femur years back. Femoral nail x2 and added three stone which I kept for seven years.

Recently lost it all though.

Breakfast - espresso + banana
Lunch - smoked salmon/chicken brown bread sandwich + diet coke
Dinner - normal meal

Booze - max 6 units per day

Diet soft drinks only, NO snacks.
One weekend takeaway per week, anything you want, as much as you want

Easy.

I'd say swimming.

Low impact, full body workout.

Cut the calories whilst you're not doing any exercise.

That's the thing. Largely eat healthy but occasionally treat yourself rather than go crazy with some stupid diet, then submit to the cravings after 1 month and stuff your face for a week. smile

You drinking much water during the day? This seems to be my latest obsession but dont think it's making any difference whatsoever.

Plenty of tea during the day. Pint of water before I go to sleep.

No, but AFAIK you end up 'passing' (sting) the fat rather than storing it? Still want to give it a go?

  • edit * \/ \/ I stand corrected. It's just me passing st (advice) then hehe

That's that stuff that makes you feel less hungry, as used by tribesmen when hunting?

That hungry feeling isn't that bad. Just distract yourself. Play a computer game or go for a walk.

So far today, I've had 1 bowl of cereal, 2 coffees, 2 packets of crisps, 3 rice cakes. I might have lunch in a minute just because we're supposed to.

Edit: Ohhhhh THAT stuff. hahahahahaha. Anal leakage is common, I hear.

Take when eating a healthy, low-fat diet. That statement always makes me laugh. Hug new weightloss A4 paper. Can help you lose weight as part of a healthy eating and fitness lifestyle.

Hello, first post so be gentle(ish), as long as you cut right down on fat (no more than 15g) per meal then you shouldn't experience any of the frankly scary side effects but it really needs to be combined with diet and exercise.

WTH? He's putting words into my mouth, I never said anything like that..

Anyway, anyone cutting down to 15g fat per meal and combining that with exercise will loose weigh WITHOUT the need for pills that turn you inside out.

I lost 2" out of my femur (right through the condyles!) 26 years ago, I cycled 165 miles last week and I've still got most of the metal inside the shaft of my femur.

I swam for years but cycling has done me far more good. The weight just falls off when you're doing those sort of distances yes Get on a bike, as long as you've got >110 degrees of flexion you'll be fine.
