L Glutamine - foul tasting hell powder..
Discussion
Has anyone got any tips for masking the taste of L-Glutamine (powder)? I was really hoping that I'd get used to it, but it's still leaves an after taste like I've eaten something that just died of the plague.
I'd normally have it with whey powder and I've tried honey, milk, chocolate powder but all to no avail.

I've never taken glutamine on its own. However, what worked with the extremely foul tasting creatine ethyl esther was mixing it with the most citrusy drink you can buy. I chose grapefruit juice, although orange juice did also work but didnt mask it quite so well. Pretty much hides the taste. This may or may not work with glutamine, but its worth a go.

I thought you shouldn't take creatine with anything that has citric acid in as it converts it to creatinine which is a useless by-product?Chris
Or is that an internet myth??
As far as i'm concerned that is a myth. You have far stronger acids in your stomach so i don't see citric acid being an issue.
Leaving creatine in solution however does have render it useless. I was when creatine was first introduced it was sold as a drink in a ready made solution... little did they know this would mean the drink would have no effect. ETA: I.e. you should drink the mix as soon as you've mixed it, and not make up pre mixed drinks.
I did a fair bit of research into creatine during my degree, and never encoutered any reserach to back up the "citric acid breaks down creatine" theory.

I've been mixing my whey with oats (tastes awesome and kills two birds with one stone..) in the morning for brekky (pre-gym) and the L-glu made it taste crappy, so I was trying to find another way of taking it. I mix it with my shake (post gym) and put up with the taste, mainly for the sake of simplicity.

A mate of mine reckons L-G has this effect on him, although I've never heard anyone else ever mention such side effects.
