Anybody Had Laser Eye Surgery?

I'm thinking about getting this done and am a little curious to hear from others that have been through the procedure.
Is it painful?
Is it worthwhle?
Can you recommend a particular company?
Will my eyes stop detriorating after having it done?
I am short sighted (fmily trait
) and have a prescription of -2.25 in both eyes which has stayed the same for years now.
