I've never had particularly warm hands, but my desk happens to be right under the air conditioner and I have asked it to be turned off on a number of occasions over the past two years. Everytime I get an e-mail saying that the request/job has been completed but it never is. Add I am fed up with it.
I can combat being cold by wearing warmer clothes but I cannot be wearing gloves at work.

Are there any long term negative effects that can be had from having really cold hands 5 days a week for 2 years? I am not asking this to sue someone or anything but I really am, fked off with this environment and the fact that my requests seem not to be taken seriousely.

I really cannot believe that you have sat there for two years without getting this resolved as petty as it might sound to some.

I take it the desk is not moveable or you can't find and trip the circuit breaker for the individual unit?

Tape a deflector to divert the airstream?

Kill one of your colleagues and take his/her desk smile

The desks need to be arranged in a aprticular manner so that our small team can communicate effectively. Moving anywhere might have a detrimental effect on my/teams performance. Thy have yet again sent me an email saying it has been resolved.
I replied telling them that it hasn;'t
they said, no, i has
so I explained again that it hasnt and I am no pussy but my hands are fking numb, etc.
they told me give it time as the system has just been adjusted.
I sent them one of my reuqests from over a year ago with words: "I've given it almost two years, still freezing".

I really do feel like spitting the dummy in a spectacualr way if I am not warm and comfortable the end of the day.

I still wodner though if there are any negative effects that can be had from having fingernumbingly cold hands day in day out though...

Take a broom handle. Attach a sharp pointy knife to the end. Start jabbing away until coolant comes out. Then send them an e-mail saying there appears to be another fault. Remove knife from broom handle. When maintenance arrives kill the guy and skin him. Then wear the skin from his hands as gloves that look like hands so nobody will ever know.

Sheesh was that so hard! smile
