The little man was playing barefooted on the decking Tuesday pm when he came to me with a huge (1 inch) splinter in his little foot.
Quick trip to the urgent treatment centre when it become apparent it isnt coming out and he needs to be operated on!

So yesterday morning he had an operation to remove the splinter but he had already got an infection. He is on strong antibiotics but needs to keep his foot elevated.

Any suggestions?

Not much help i'm afraid, but i understand your problem totally. I have a 2 year old and the only way i can get him to sit still for any length of time is either feed him Calpol/Calprofen by the bucket load or tie him to something structural.

Sit with him to keep him in one place. Do books, colouring, dvd's, sweets. Anything to keep him still! Shame they stopped making Phenergon, that used to knock me out for weeks at a time hehe

Endless episodes of In The Night Garden for you!!

Sit with him and cuddle so he has to be still but gets mummy cuddles.

I look forward to your thread next week on regaining your sanity wink

My 2 year old got a greenstick fracture of her leg and needed to be off her feet for a few days at least. I downloaded 2 seasons of Peppa Pig from I tunes onto the wife's i phone, and then taped it to the underside of a shelf by her bed. It worked immediately perfectly and she would happily lie there for hours wathcing them over and over. Only problem was as it was out of her arms reach, she needed one of us to switch over every 10 mins! But the idea worked well and kept her on her back and with her leg under a pillow her foot was elevated.
