Strange bruises after the gym
Discussion
Another strange one from me.
Been to the gym this morning and have come out in a few weird bruise type things on my arm. Not dark bruises like you would get if you had hit it but more like broken blood vessel type marks around my wrists and on the inside of my forearms.
Reassure me that coupled with a scabby nose I haven't contracted aids or something please?

Actually, I wonder if it is from doing ab crunches on the machine?
It's the only time anything will have been touching the inside of my arms?
Sounds likely. Were you wearing sleeves? If it's not painful or irritable then I wouldn't worry. I used to get big red marks across my back/traps from squatting. Did get me some extra sympathy from my girlfriend though! It's the only time anything will have been touching the inside of my arms?
It is blood pooling at the wrist and elbow - caused my tiny musle tears which occur during weight training when the muscles arent "used" to that level of effort.
Muscle building is caused by these very minor tears which result in hypertrophy of the muscle fibres (growth).
The bruising seems to be more prevalent/visible if you are fair skinned.
I once went in a did a really heavy few sets of Tricep extensions/dips etc - the next day the back of my upper arms/elbows were sore as hell and had bruising

It really shouldn't be....Muscle building is caused by these very minor tears which result in hypertrophy of the muscle fibres (growth).

I have never seen anyone get bruising from weight training purely from the reasons you state.
The bruising is from burst blood vessels where the weight/bar/machine has rubbed against the skin. I would be seriously worried if my muscles broke out in bruises after a hard session.
