Please dont take this the wrong way, or get all silly and high and mighty about it.

Where are all the English Doctors/Nurses and Medical Staff in the NHS?

Just taken my Wife for her 30wk check up at Louth Hospital, walking through the building there wasnt one single english person, all the ante/pre natal medical team are foreign and we struggled to understand a word they said?

so what happened to them all, is it an unnatractive job to the english now? or is it a case of people who come in from abroad will do it cheaper?

I went to the Royal Derby hospital for the other halfs 28 week scan on Tuesday and had the complete opposite experience to yourself, everybody we have seen has been a native, even down to some old style matron types that scare the st out of me!

I believe that British trained Doctors and Nurses are 'fking off' at an alarming rate to e.g. Australia or America, where they are much better respected and paid. Our government's approach seems to be to import cheaper 'equivalents' from overseas.

This...but I have never had an experience where atleast ONE of them have not been british. It's the doctors with really heavy accents that piss me off something rotten, like call centers. I can't understand them and I am left wondering if they understand me.

I just accept the prescription I get handed and hope for the best.

Oh dear. Despite being born bred and educated to be a surgeon, in this country, people like me don't appear on that montage. Does that mean I'm a foreigner too?

About 5ft10, black hair brown skin. So I'm not in that montage. So despite my place of birth, education and professional competence, it appears I'm not considered English. Am I wrong?

I'd say you are just arrogant.

Always believed that surgeon was a simile for arrogant.

Think it is a prerequisite for the role, or possibly a result of everyone respecting them just a little too much.

I am sure 968 doesn't fall into that category though, there has to be an exception to prove the rule?

Don't forget the NHS is a government job, 2 payrises a year fixed pay grades reciprocal qualification agreements with other countries may mean that doctors and nurses emigrate to a country where pay is more open to negotiation.

Saying you were born and bred to be a surgeon is arrogant, if not what is it? As for your question, who said you aren't considered English?

I think what 968 was saying was that he was born & bred in the UK _and_ he is a Surgeon (in response to the OP asking where all the English/British/Uk medical staff were.

Point being just because you ain't white doesn't mean you ain't british smile
