Tinnitus and load open top sports cars!
Discussion
Morning all,
I suffer from Tinnitus in my left ear. It is constant high pitched tone that never goes away although I have learned to live with it over the last year or so. During the day isn’t a problem as there other noises and distractions that mask the sound. Nights are harder to deal with and getting to sleep can be a problem. Sometimes I turn on the radio very quietly to mask the sound and this usually works. I’m sure the tinnitus has been there for some time but I only noticed it about a year ago.
I’m sure it was caused by years of listening to music too loudly (through headphones) and riding bikes / driving the Caterham without earplugs. I know there is nothing that can be done to cure the tinnitus but I’m concerned about it getting worse. I don’t ride motorbikes any more and no longer listen to music through headphones. It would be very hard for me to have to sell the seven but I guess my health must come first.
I know that earplugs can reduce the noise to safe levels but I’m concerned that even this reduced level may still damage my hearing further and make the tinnitus worse. Other than my awareness of the tinnitus I live a normal life with the exception of occasionally struggling to sleep.
Any advice greatly received. I would happily pay for custom made earplugs if I thought that would prevent the tinnitus and my hearing from getting any worse and allow me to continue to enjoy my loud open top sports cars!
All the best.
Martin.
