I play football once a week on a 5 a side astro turf pitch. The surface is pretty hard and the astro turf boots I wear don't provide much cusioning either. I've tried a number of different makes of boots but they all seem to provide very little cushioning.

The combination of the hard pitches and hard boots means that I often get knee pains after pounding around for about an hour. I weigh about 94kg at the moment but I normally float between 89kg - 95kg. I have noticed that it doesn't feel as bad when I run if my weight is about 89kg but it still hurts.

Anyway, I come across some shock absorbing insoles made by a number of different companies. Does anyone on here use these or something similar when playing football, running or any other sport where there is a lot of impact on the joints? I'm looking to order a pair and see how they go but it would be nice to here the views of anyone that has already tried them.

Thanks!

Used to use these tromping around in Army boots.

They reduce the shock loading, but not by as much as not running around on hard surfaces.

I have a set in my work shoes - I often need to run at work as well as a set in my running shoes.

The set I have are gel cushioned in the ball + heel.

My running shoes are fitted/tailored to me but I find the insole makes them even better.

Get a pair for £10. If you dont like them then you havent lost much.

I will give you the name of the brand I use if its any help?
