diarrhea every morning
Discussion
hey everyone, i have a problem
every morning when i get up i really need to go to the toilet. i havent had a solid poo for weeks now and fairly concerned.
i don't have a poor diet and eat alot of pasta, red meats, salad and bannanas.
i've also started to drink these probiotic yoghurts to see if that helps but nothing is
can anyone help, or have any ideas why?

1) any abdominal pain?
2) any blood in the stool (red or off-red)?
3) stressed?
4) drink a lot of milk?
5) eat a lot of bread and other wheat products?
1, 2, 3 may indicate problems like IBS, Crohn's, ulcers. 4, 5 was asked because you may have developed an intolerance. Get to the GP; if you had a tummy bug, it shouldn't last more than a couple of days.

Do you drink coffee before you need the loo or is it immediately you get up?
Can't be that powerful can it? Hm, on a similar note, does your partner have a sense of humour and have you noticed your Optrex bottle going down quicker than it should?jagracer said:

WTF. I always feel slightly dehydrated after coffee. Do you put a lot of sugar?
Something in coffee (and sometimes chocolate, but never tea) has a direct stimulant effect. It does in me - really obvious. Not quite as powerful as the previous poster who couldn't hold on, but the effect is definitely there! Annoyingly, it doesn't help me stay awake whatsoever!

I wonder if you can develop an intolerance to coffee. Do you have a lot of coffee?

Caffeine has a diuretic effect - it leaches water from the faecal matter in the bowel and you end up pissing it out, leaving you dehydrated and constipated, IIRC.

20 cups!!! I wonder if you've developed an intolerance through over-consumption.

I had the problem long before I started drinking too much coffee, I used to drink loads of tea but switched to solely coffee after I started taking it black, after that I found tea didn't taste of anything. I also now only have decaffeinated. Caffeine has a diuretic effect - it leaches water from the faecal matter in the bowel and you end up pissing it out, leaving you dehydrated and constipated, IIRC.

But you still get the runs with decaf? You SURE nobody's putting Optrex in your coffee?
