I dislocated my ring finger at the middle knuckle about a month ago. The pain has mostly gone but the swelling is very annoying. The doctor has pretty much told me it could takes a few more weeks to many months to go down (but will always be there a bit due to scar tissue)

Has anyone else experienced this? How long did it take to fully recover? At the moment I cant quite make a fist and never realised just how annoying that would be!!

Ouch, how did you do that?

Im far from an expert but I normally use the 3 month rule. With things such as muscle/tendon/joint damage I normally like to see a significant or full recovery within 3 months.

Hi, I work in orthopaedics,
dislocations can be a real nuisance, my first advice would be to see someone about it, but as I have read u've seen ur GP biggrin

The other thing to remember is in your hand it is a highly nervous concentrated region. so you will be more concious of it for longer.

like chap above says 12 weeks, not too bad of time frame, but if your concerned go back to Gp or minor injuries

Thanks for the advice both, 3 months doesn't sound too bad.

Unfortunately I dont have a very good story apart from being a bit drunk and so engrossed in my chicken tikka kebab that I tripped over and landed awkwardly. Amazing how quickly you sober up when you finger has a 45 degree bend in 2 wrong directions biggrin
