Just got back from my dentist. Long and short of it is I have a badly decayed tooth right at the back. He says it needs a crown and wonder of wonders he has just got himself a new toy which will do the trick in one visit, providing a Cerec crown.
Ok, sounds good until he tells me its going to cost £945.
Before coming on here I Googled it and found some 2007 prices at around £400 for a difficult rear tooth. Can prices have increased so much or am I contributing to the new gizmo?

If you get a lab to do it, it should be alot cheaper. Also if they use a good lab, it could last longer..

We have had various Cerec machines over the last 10 years, so have quite a bit of experience with them and we only charge £500

Why do you want cerec specifically. Do you need it done in one visit?

I didnt want Cerec. I had never heard of it until yesterday. It was just something my dentist suggested as being a better alternative. I guess he has to justify his new machine somehow.

FWIW I think CEREC is very technique sensitive- the best results are achieved with someone who has a lot of experience...

I have a lab made ceramic crown on one of my back teeth. its fantastic, I wish they were all like that as I have soft, sensitive teeth.

cost to me - £0, done at the dental school.
