Horny second molar?

My twelve year old daughter has a sharp horn on the inside of her second molar which has just appeared. Can it be smoothed off as it's irritating her Tongue,

i've had one of these sharp tangs all my life but i've learned to keep my Tongue away.

I'm trying to get her to the dentist soon but a definitive answer will help stop me getting grief!

as a temporary measure if it's causing discomfort you can get wax from the chemist which people put on their braces when they cut their inside lips
