After having a sleep test a couple of weeks ago I had a phone call on Friday from City Hospital B'ham to say I have severe sleep apnea and will need to use CPAP.
The sleep test shows I stop breathing an average of 72 times an hour, hence why I never get up in the morning feeling refreshed, and I'm able to nod off more or less anywhere at anytime.
So when I go for the CPAP machine on Wednesday I expect them to tell me to inform the DVLA and I'll have my dl revoked until its under control.
Happy days 'eh.

Surely once you use the machine it is under control?

I mean for instance if i left for work without my glasses i would legally be unfit to drive, with them on i can drive no problem.

Surely the above to using a Cpap machine - if using then not a problem.

If you have to hand your licence in to the DVLA for a medical reason you will not get it back until the DVLA doctor confirms that you are fit to drive again.

If you do continue to drive when the doctors have told you not to your car insurance will be invalid if you have a crash.

From what the specialist told me it depends on the severity of it.

Due to not getting enough sleep I've become prone to falling asleep @ anytime (including as a driver or passenger), and trying to fight sleep is pointless.

I hope I dont have to lose my licence but I'm preparing myself for that eventuality.
