Just spent today in bed after spending an unpleasant couple of hours this morning ensuring that anything in my alimentary canal was assuredly no longer in there - exiting via the most convenient route for it to take.

The Missus went down with this on Tuesday and Wednesday so I reckon I have tomorrow to look forward to gripping my guts and moaning.

Stomach really aches!

If you've been lucky enough to avoid this one then take all the extra precautions you can manage. It really isn't very nice. hurl

I had it a couple of weeks back. Evil, horrible bug.

Projectile diarrhea and vomiting from five in the morning until three in the afternoon.

I've honestly never felt worse. It took the best part of a week until I felt right again.

When did you manage to eat anything again?

Not trying to today...

Had it last weekend - ages since I have felt so ill. Took me about five days to work up an appetite again.

I came down with it on Monday morning and didn't eat until Wednesday, even then not much.

Hope you get better soon.

Thanks, mate. I'm only at the end of day 1. At least the chucking up has stopped...Maybe I'll try on Saturday.

I think it affects people differently. My O/H started feeling ill just after I had it, but she just felt a bit rough for a couple of days, with no sickness.

Work colleague had his daughter admitted to hospital today with this. She's evidently been very poorly with this, hasn't been able to keep any food / liquids down since Sunday and is now dehydrated.

I had this this week. Never had anything like this in my life. Monday morning 4am it started throwing up all Monday, didn't eat anything until about 8pm 2 weetabix threw that back up and went to bed. Woke Tuesday wasn't sick all day but risked a single baked potato Tuesday night which was ok. Back to Work Wednesday still not feeling like eating, yesterday I ate normally but still don't have my appetite back. Horrible bug.

No, but seem to have picked up a sore throat, snotty nose and a dull headache. Odd as I haven't really been anywhere outside of work in the last few days and none of my colleagues are ill...

Yep its Norovirus. "Real nasty one too." (Ghostbusters).

Be warned it's highly contagious and can survive on contaminated surfaces. So no-one will be visiting Chez Don for a while...

Hi people! I was admitted to hospital on weds with this bug. Probably one of the worst illness I have ever had. Severely dehydrated. Was on a drip and given anti biotics.

Well at least I wasn't hospitalised! Blimey! I hope you are properly on the mend.

All the sickness has gone, but overnight I was up at least once an hour with diarrheoa. That's drying up now but...

...blimey my guts ache! NEVER had aching guts like this. Ate some porridge to calm things down and that's helping but the pain is quite something. Haven't had a stomach bug like it for painful aftereffects...

Another day later and things are back to normal, although, each (light) meal weighs heavy. Just enough to let me know not to overdo it. And I'm weak!

Does anyone know how long after recovery one is contagious? I'm hoping by Monday there's no chance I can give it to anyone else?

minimum 48 after the cessation of "excitement" I had it last week - passed out at work, just about managed to get home before it kicked in properly! took 10 days to feel properly ok

Should be OK to go to work on Monday then.

So - I am totally over the s**tting and puking thing now. And yet everything I eat makes me feel queasy and ill - despite feeling hungry and needing food. I hope I'll feel normal before long - damn thing is sucking the joy out of every meal...and I'm just not strong enough to go out and enjoy the weekend, either.

This thing is thoroughly horrid. I hope for anyone reading the thread forewarned is forearmed...avoid this at all costs! Blurgh!

Had this a few weeks ago - late afternoon right through to the following morning. Lost 7lbs in weight in that space of time frown

It was nearly as bad as a couple of years ago when I was in bed for 4 days with similar symptoms - lost 10lb that time, and I felt far worse.
