Got the renewal last week - gone up again to about £275 for me and the wife (both in our 50's).

Had a few queries as the cover seemed to have changed so rang them up. Turns out the items I didn't understand were standard on the old policy but options on the new one and at different levels - this left the cover exactly as it was so OK.

Were there any items I didn't require in the new policy? Well yes - I don't need the GP phoneline (saves about £1.00 a month), don't need the dental cover (saves about £10.00 a month), dont need the maternity cover (saves about £120.00 a month).

Excuse me, are you sure thats right. Yes, dropping maternity cover saves you £120.00+ a month).

FFS. I am 57, my wife is 53. I had a vasectomy over 28 years ago so the chances of the maternity cover being required were slim (under normal circumstances) but, as they were part of the package and not available as an option, I have been paying out a significant sum every month for years for something I would never ever need.

I added a £100.00 excess and my premium has dropped to about £125.00 a month, saving £150.00 every month. How fckuing crazy is that.
