Recently, I have been going through spells of getting up at more or less the exact time every morning (circa 3am ish), to go for a leak.

Is this symptomatic of anything?

only speaking from personal experience , i am diabetic.i used to get up once or twice a night. it could be something quite simple . but get yourself to a doctor.
type 2 diabetes is easy to manage.
hope its something to do with the five pints of water you drink before going to sleep

Water intake - I drink about 2.5ltrs of water per day, not including the odd cup of tea or coffee.

I do drink about half a litre at the gym at night, then about 300ml of protein shake after it. Usually for a leak just before bed, but then like I say, I end up getting up again at 3am ish.

This has only been a recent thing, whereas my fluid intake has remained unchanged for a good couple of years or so.

It just could be you're getting older - if over 40 then that's likely the case....if younger, don't drink to much before you g to bed biggrin

Go and see the Doc then smile

...When I turned 40 I often went to the toilet to relieve the bladder at 4am, that's also the most common time of death due to low sugar levels.
I'm actually quite pleased if I manage to sleep throughout the night without having to get up 'to go' at all...and I'm 50.
I understand that in your late 60s-70s can be every hour !
