Hernia + abortion
Discussion
hi
I've never really posted on this section of the forum before, thought i'll give it a try as i need advice to give to a very close friend.
I have a friend who has hernia and she has fallen pregnant, now the problem is she wants an abortion.
She has not told the clinic that she has hernia, as she says if she tells the doctor he/she will not let the abortion happen, is this true?
What will happen if she goes through with the abortion without telling the doctor about her hernia?
If anyone can help me on what advice to give her or even what to do, i would appreciate it alot.
kind regards

I'm no expert on abortions as I'm normally on the other end of things but I can't see why, although it may depend of a few things.
Is it a fixed or current hernia?
Where is the hernia?
How big is it?
How many weeks pregnant?
etc
There are 2 ways of performing a termination, medical and surgical. Partly depends on gestation but can also be down to choice if the gestation is appropriate for both procedures.
I've known heavily pregnant women with hernias who have been ok so if she's not far gone and the hernia doesn't involve any of the deep pelvic organs I can't see how it would affect things.
