Hi guys,

I'm looking to lose a little weight for the beginning of May, just 7 kg or so. I'm 5ft 7" and weight is 78.5kg. My problem is I've been a little over weight for the last 5 years. I excercise regularly so that isn't the problem, I've just never managed to lose the weight I put on after leaving Uni. I play football twice a week and mountain bike twice too, walk 2 miles a couple of times a week to work so I'd say I'm pretty fit.

I'm eating a lot better now and weight is coming off a little, but not quick enough. I can't go to the gym, I enjoy sport, not running in front of a mirror

Anyway.. my mate swears by Myoplex products, he takes a protein shake for breakfast, normal lunch and one as an evening meal. It really worked for him, he lost 15kg in about 4 months. Basically 1kg a week. Anyone used these before, we're only talking short term here, once I'm happy with my weight I'll be able to maintain it since I'm eating better and my weight has been stable for years due to the excercise.

Two products I'm looking at, Myoplex diet and Myoplex Original (which is what my mate took):

Looking for those of you who have tried this or a similar product, please don't suggest tripts to the gym etc.

If the kcals in these 'meals' are lower than the kcals of the proper meals they're replacing clearly they'll help, but consuming real food of the same calorific value will have the same effect. There are no magic potions.
I used exactly those products six or eight years ago and they helped me lose a lot of BF, but that was before I got a good understanding of what we eat and why.
They are convenient - nothing more nor less. If you can't prepare real food then they are an acceptable alternative but they will NOT help you lose weight per se.
Myoplex, as any of the multitude of MRP products may be useful when you need a low calorie, nutritionally balanced meal on the go. The important thing is to induce a calorific deficit - consume less than you burn.

I don't really understand your post to be honest. If you are using supps to lose the weight but only going to use it short term and you are not planning on doing anymore exercise what is going to stop the weight coming back when you finish taking them?

You say you will maintain it because you already eat healthily and exercise but if you did that adequately then you wouldn't have the excess weight in the first place.

Not sure I think that it will work like that, if you aren't happy with your weight then you either need to eat less or exercise more, you can't skip a step of it.
