I was wondering if anyone has used those press-up things being advertised on TV. The 'Navy seals' devise that you twist as you go down and twist as you up up.

Comments from people that use it will be appreciated.

Teenagers who think 'it looks sh*t' can go elsewhere please!

What you mean those handle things that twist....

No I haven't tried them, yes this is a pointless post, but I think you have to be pretty silly to purchase something like that given the range of pressups you can do with erm...just your own body.

Waste of money imo.

Waste of time, use your own hands and use proper form.

Just do press-ups as per normal but vary your hand positions i.e wide and close grip press ups. You can also do incline press ups too..

Waste of money. Just do press ups. If you feel the need to grip something, stick a couple of dumbells on the floor.

They just sstop it putting too much strain on your wrists and hands, but once you start doing enough pressups your hands will become used to it anyway.

Just do the usual checks...

1) is it revolutionary?
2) does it have celebrity endorsement?
3) does it make your workout easier/quicker/more efficient?
4) will you see results in just 10 minutes a day?

...in which case, it's a crock of st. HTH.

Lisa: What is the sound of one hand clapping?
Bart: Piece of cake. [claps with one hand]
Lisa: No, Bart, it's a 3000-year-old riddle with no answer. It's supposed to clear your mind of conscious thought.
Bart: No answer? Lisa, listen up! [claps with one hand]

I ve got press up stands brought them in 1997 from Argos for 5 pounds with a heave/pull up bar, they were past of my luggage when I went to Kenya for 6 months that year, fantastic bit of kit increase depth and due to this more eccentric control required, when i m training at work I do press ups in between benches for same reason, dont think i d pay any extra just for ones which rotate. My press up stands will be part of my luggage again this year as will my heaving/pull up bar.

Hmmmm scratchchin I'm not so sure you know. The instability in your hands and wrists will likely give you a better core workout - like using exercise balls, and other things to throw your balance. The extra height will mean you get a greater range of movement through the press-up.

And the majority of the reviews on Amazon are great

I think there are some at the gym I go to. I may try them.

Eccentric stretching has been promoted quite heavily in MMA magazines etc. lately, including raised 'platform' push ups done until the body tires and goes blow parallel = falls to floor in sweaty, agonised heap!

Do some press ups with your shins on a swiss ball. When you have them mastered do them one with only one leg on the ball or alternate with jackknifes's or one legged jackknife's.

Press ups on a rotating handle are better than not...the rotation involves more muscles, the hand position is better for you. Whether the benefit is worth £50 depends on your wealth.

If it were me and i was doing pressups and had them sat there...i'd use them.
