This may seem daft, but I seem to have a constant sore throat these days. Thinking about it, it started in the Autumn and is ever present although less so at the weekends and over Christmas it disappeared whilst on leave from work for 9 days. I moved to a brand new office building in the summer and I'm wondering if the air-con/heating could be causing me a problem. I haven't smoked anything since May '03 and only get a cold about once a year.

Any (sensible)thoughts?

Yup ,it will be the aircon - it is likely drying the air too much for you.

Some car systems affect people in the same way.

We normally boil a kettle dry a couple times each morning to bring the humidity level up to around 50%. If we dont it drops to 20% and its not a nice place to work.

If you have rads in your office leave a pint of water on it.

Thanks all. No radiators in the office, and there's no way the landlords would allow a kettle anywhere other than the kitchen. I'll maybe put a bowl of water on my desk and see if that humidifies my err, "workspace".

I hear what you are saying. In our place we have lots of people who feel cold all the time, and are very happy to moan about it. Curiously, those of us who tend to feel warm or hot most of the time are shouted down regularly. I do sit next to a window that I can open which is a bonus. Coincidently, I do occassionally get chilly but haven't been "cold" proper since October 2004...

generally work on site, this includes roof tops when I try to juggle the work around not to get wet and in areas with lots of chillers, but not in them much, 3 fleeces in the car and 2 on site with shirt and tie of course, hoody fleece to keep head warm smile

last genuine cold that had me in bed ? 2-3 years ago at least
