Your favourite bodybuilder of all time....?

I don't know how popular this thread will be, but as a fairly keen gym goer (not bodybuilder!), I've always taken a passing interest in the magazines provided, such as Flex and Muscle Development. I've always had a fascination with how far you can push physical development, especially with the aid of steroids!
Anyway back to topic, I've always been a big fan of multiple Mr Olympia (and by the way, far more prestideous than Mr Universe), Dorian Yates. Not the prettiest of physiques, but overcame his genetic shortfalls with absolute 100% dedication.

So do you often look at magazines with semi naked bronzed men covered in oil? Giant Haystacks and Big Daddie would have dwarfed Arnie for mass...
But for bodybuilding, as opposed to weight lifting, the final results are heavily to do with looks. And 'your' midget looks deformed (V and thighs especially).
No, that's no longer true. Frank Zane was probably the last, what you would regard as having a pretty physique, not overloaded with muscle but a more athletic look. Lee Haney started the 'mass monster' look in the mid 80's, and the IFBB actively encouraged body builders to go down the 'mass' route. If I'm not mistaken, the last two Mr Olympia holders, Ronnie Coleman and the present day holder, Jay Cutler, are an inch taller than Yates, but compete at 300 lb.But for bodybuilding, as opposed to weight lifting, the final results are heavily to do with looks. Had to go look these guys up, I'm afraid. And Talk about a 'sport' that has lost it's way! I guess the sponsors had something to sell. As ever. And, for digimeistter, that other one is a 'shop.
