So I've signed up for said event this year (May 23rd) with just over 16 weeks to go I need to find a training program asap!!! I'm not a complete beginner but neither have I been running regularly enough to follow the intermediate training plans I've found! Any advice/training tips welcome...

Mods, would you be so kind as to move this topic to "Sports" if you see fit? Thanks

I'm also doing this. Have been running approx 10k distance for about a year and started upping it around october time. I managed a 15 mile run before xmas, going out tomorrow to see what I can manage, hoping around 16 miles.

I run about 3 times a week, tuesday i do intervals on track, thursday is a medium but reasonably quick run, then at the weekend I try and do a long run.

I would reccomend joining a club. Where abouts are you based?

Oh and if you're not a regular runner then a sub 4 hour time is very ambitious.

Obviously I don't really know what your fitness levels are but if you manage a sub 4 hour then fair play. My friend did london last year, trained for 6 months, prior to that she could run 10ks at about 50-55 mins so nothing too quick. She did the marathon in 4.45.

I'll be happy just to finish mainly but if I could get under 4.30 would be very pleased with myself.

Only 1 tip: Get yourself to one of the regular PH Edinburgh meets for a beer/natter afterwards....
